For the first time, I’m reviewing a cookbook! This is something I never thought of doing. Although lately, I’ve been lucky with my purchases and found cookbooks that I’ll treasure for life and can always turn to when I want to eat something quick and delicious. From the team at Blend, a Parisien hamburger restaurant – and the place I’ll be eating if I ever find myself visiting France – comes Hamburger Gourmet! My first impressions So far, everything I’ve cooked has been delicious and a problem if I have to eat a burger at any fast-food joint. The burgers are filling, full of flavour, messy, and an experience to repeat. They take more time and dedication than I’m used to giving to a burger, but it pays off. Even the simplest of burgers tastes 100 times better than any burger I’ve ever had. Forget mayo, ketchup, mustard and all …

I spent this summer working at a restaurant, and despite all the hard work, it does come with some benefits, mainly if you work in the kitchen. Even though I was familiar with most of the recipes, it still opened my mind to others that I’ve never heard off. One of those recipes was german fries. I thought this was just some fancy name and the potatoes had nothing german about them, but after a little digging online, I was surprised to see that in fact there was a reason. This recipe is originally from Germany, and it’s called Bratkartoffeln which simply translates to fried potatoes. And once this new recipe step outside the border, it gained the name of the country of origin. The same way french fries were named in America. So basically, this Greman way of frying potatoes is using raw or pre-cooked potatoes, slice them in …

Today’s post is already thinking about the weekend. This recipe is perfect for a lazy Sunday’s brunch. You cook with the ingredients you have in the pantry, use any type of bread you like (or have leftovers of), and it’s quick to do. I’m one of those persons who love to spend time preparing a meal. I don’t mind spending the whole afternoon in the kitchen cooking dinner, making desserts, and appetizers. But some days, it feels good to just lazy around the house, not doing much. For those moments, pizza toasts are kings. It takes less than 5 minutes preparing and an extra 10, to cook it. Which, in the meantime, you can be doing other things, like a fresh orange juice to go with – ok, now I’m thirsty.

It all started when I wanted to bake something to celebrate Autumn’s arrival. Around this time of the year, the bakers and the weekend-bakers bring out the big guns to prepare delicious cakes, cupcakes, and cookies with all the pumpkin and spooky themes. Some are pieces of art but, for the common human being, I wanted to do something simple that could give also a nice visual impact. Since around this time pumpkin is the king, I bought a butternut squash. They make delicious soups, roasts and much more, although I wasn’t feeling to do something savoury with it. I wanted to make muffins! After hours and hours of jumping from a recipe to another, I finally found the one I wanted to make. It was easy, just putting everything together, mixed up and ready to go to the oven. Now, this is my kind of recipe! Although since I’ve …

So shamefully I forgot that the equinox happened yesterday. For some reason, I thought it would be in October?! Bottom line, I was planning a special post to welcome Autumn and yesterday would be the perfect excuse. Now I just have to do it when I feel like it. I wanted to do something special, and now I have to post something delicious but not exactly autumn related. Complaining apart, I wanted to share this recipe for months but kept delaying it. Now is finally the time to tell you the best way to do mushrooms. Since I did it for the first time, it has been a family favourite. I’m just going to warn you that it will hook you up. I found this recipe on Yummly when I wanted to do something different with a few maroon mushrooms I had in the fridge. I’m always looking for different …

It has been so long since I’ve shared a recipe here on the blog. For a change, I decided to step up the game and show a dish I enjoy doing because of the use of two ingredients I can’t eat: curry and coconut milk. So if you are like me and can’t even think about tasting the small amount you should give this recipe a try. I call this an NO-CURRY-LOVERS because I never liked the taste of curry and every time someone suggested to have curry for dinner I’m usually the first to complain. And I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t like it so want to give a second option for people that want to cook it but doesn’t like it. My father loves curry but usually, we never cook it because of neither my mother or myself like it. Also, I don’t like the …

On a daily basis, my social media is filled with photos of autumn which are very normal considering this time of the year and also photos of one of the fruits of the season: conkers. Only last week I learned this word (never knew how was it called in English) and I was thrilled with happiness for finally know how to say it. With a little research I found odd not be able to find any recipes with them I though maybe cooking them is more of a Portuguese tradition instead of a worldwide one. It was annoying me soo bad how a simple recipe wasn’t online so people could enjoy eating conkers instead of just leave them around the house. When I realised conker was a toxic species and you’re not supposed to eat them I just wanted to bang my head against a wall. How could I be …

A couple days ago I was organizing my images on my computer and found the first image of a recipe I toke where I am currently living. I’ll be honest is not the best recipe I had ever cooked but it was tasty! Also is quick and easy to do!! Grocery List: Tagliatelle (100g portion) Sausages (is up to you but be careful with the seasoning some have strong and salty flavor) Spanich, fresh or frozen (100g portion) Marron Mushrooms Sweet corn Coconut Milk Salt, black pepper, and nutmeg When I am cooking I like to do multi-taste so all of the components of the dish came out at the same time or as nearly as possible. Despite the pasta, all of the others ingredients are already ready to be eaten so they’ll take less time to cook. I’ll leave where a tip to start cooking at the right moment. …
