I don’t even know where I should start. Maybe with putting up the decoration. I hate to miss the 1st of December since it’s a holiday in Portugal no matter if it lands on a weekday or weekend, people are home and free to put up the decorations. I’ve always had a fake tree my entire life, which is the most common. I never knew of a farm selling real Christmas trees and since shop, them is illegal you kind of only have one option. Although until I was about 10 years old my grandmother would chop a wild pine tree that was growing on her own farm. I would get so excited mostly because she would put up little chocolates as ornaments and I was dying to get my hands on them. It does give another feeling to have a real tree instead of a fake. Not only the …
When it comes to patterns and colours I’m really fussy and when I’m making stuff I’m even fussier. I like everything to be perfect or, at least, as neat as possible. Clean cuts and perfect fits are my heavens and so when I was wrapping my fake Christmas gifts I also wanted to add some boxes with lids to the mixture. But since I just ended up switching the colour of the box, it wasn’t any “magical” transformation from what appears to be a closed box into one that you could reuse. The box was made to be reused from the start. So I wasn’t creating something new, I was just giving it a new clean face. Instead, this is a DIY in how to gift wrapping boxes with lids when you don’t find the right pattern/colour or you don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money in just …
Last year, I manage to make a snowman between all the university madness by the end of the semester. It actually was in the Christmas tree but it was everything so rushed and stressful I didn’t even bother to do a proper blog post about it. Although this year is different and today is time for me to give to you my Snowman DIY. I experimented with different cover material that could give a similar texture to snow. Unfortunately, since it’s on a small scale it always ended up weird looking and nothing like I wanted. I try to cover it with fake snow (shredded styrofoam), cotton, and even the leftovers of a pom pom. But nothing worked. Until I remembered I had a little box of sand and I thought “could it be that simple?”. I give it a try, let it dry, and paint it over. Although it …
I love to see a Christmas tree fully decorated, but the best part is the presents underneath. If a tree doesn’t have presents it feels naked to me. So I thought about wrapping a few empty boxes. Although, it will take so much space in the attic afterwards – which I can’t complain about but still. As a lightning streak, I thought what if the boxes weren’t closed? What if I wrap them and somehow leave one side open to be able to use the box later for storage? This idea was inspired by Studio DIY and the post in 2015 of the Emoji Gift Wrap. There are so many ideas on how you can make beautiful boxes to gift to someone but no ones say you are obligated to actually give them. So instead of just spending your time wrapping presents beautifully for then later be ripped off, why …
We are already 5 days in December. How did this happen? It feels like yesterday was the 1st, time does fly during Christmas. Without further ado let’s focus on the DIY since that is what you are here for. I didn’t want to leave this craft for later because it takes a few hours to do. Although it’s so simple! As you have already seen in the title and the featured image, today is all about snowflakes! I wanted to do something with it and on one of my trips to inspiration land aka Pinterest, I was curious to see what people were doing with snowflakes and garlands. Despite the usual that I was expecting to find, I also cross path with a 3D snowflake that was from eBay or any other site that you can buy it. I was sure I could do it myself, which is all the …
We don’t like to keep decorating the tree with the same ornaments over and over again, right?Although the ornaments can be expensive and it becomes pointless to spend that much amount of money in baubles when it could be saved or use for presents. Also, if you keep buying new baubles every year you’ll start to have a collection of old ones that will never get to see the light of day again. I own about 4 sets of baubles in different colours from red, purple, gold and silver. Without mentioning the older bits and pieces that just appeared. Some offered by my grandparents and other I have no idea. Bottom line, I always try to decorate the tree differently every year and I don’t know how but I have been managing to do it. Although it gets to a point where I see the older ones just sitting there …
Merry Christmas, Happy Blogmas!! We are back on the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas music blasting from the speakers, the shops are fully decorated, the fire is cracking and the TV only streams Christmas movies. It’s the best. I can’t even believe today is the first day of The 12 Crafty Days aka blogmas. As I said before in my announcement post, today won’t be a craft, instead of a little walk through what I have done to decorate my office for this special occasion. For the first time, I have a tree of my own to keep me company on the working days and keep my Christmas spirit up. I must say it matches my height. Also, I have two special DIYs to decorate it. The Snowed Ornaments, which are so cute and easy to do, and the Gifts. They might seem regular presents but in fact, …
* This post might contain affiliated links. To know more visit my Disclaimer page. Well, well, this month was crazy! I’ve never had so many books to talk about. With my Christmas readathon starting tomorrow I had to order a few books from Book Depository. As if this wasn’t enough, I also have more second-hand books to haul – at least these ones were free. The cherry on top of the cake is the overly large amount of books I add to my TBR pile on Goodreads. For my sake – and yours – let’s cut to the chase and talk about the ones that really matter. On last month’s post, I was sad for not being able to buy books online. Thankfully, that changed and I’ve received all of them. As I said I’m doing a readathon of my own, until the 24th of December. Therefore, I bought this …
* This post might contain affiliated links. To know more visit my Disclaimer page. Christmas is my favourite time of the year and, once you know it, you have flown by from the 1st of December to the 25th. So I’m always looking for ideas to make those 24 days the must magical. On the last two years, I’ve tried to post every day until Christmas (back on my old blog) but it takes a crazy amount of time, preparation and creativity to come up with 24 different ideas. I prefer quality over quantity so I decided to give it a twist. I’m still be going to post every day, but it will be different types of content. From the 1st to the 23rd (only the odd days) I’ll be posting DIYs and from the 2nd to the 24th (only the even days) it will be posting reading updates for …
