The Hunger Games. A series that doesn’t need any introduction. Some people read the books, others watched the movies, and many did both. I did none. I was aware of the basic story behind The Hunger Games: a bunch of kids put inside an arena to fight until death. Although I never wanted to watch any of the movies, I don’t know why, but I never did. Fast forward a few years, and here I am, a die-hard fan of Divergent and the dystopian genre. I knew it was a matter of time until I had to read The Hunger Games trilogy. There was no denying how important this series was for the genre, and it was (still is) so beloved. I had to read it. And this year, I finally archive that goal. Attention! The following review contains spoilers for all three books in The Hunger Games series. You …
Science-fiction and fantasy. Two genres often presented together. Although they couldn’t be more different from each other. And I’m the one to know that. I love one and dislike the other. I never hide it from anyone. And whenever there’s an opportunity, I like to point out that I enjoy keeping a harsh distinction between sci-fi and fantasy. But why do I find them so different? After all, what defines science fiction? Sci-fi, for short, is a wide genre of speculative fiction based on scientific or technological principles. The story can be set in our world or in a galaxy far far away. What makes it sci-fi is the existence of elements explained through laws of physics, even if they don’t exist today. For example, Interstellar. The movie is based around the idea of wormholes and travels between the space and time continuum. So far, that’s only a theory. There …
Reading the entire book series that inspired what once was one of my favourite TV shows of all time was something I wanted to do for a long time. Ever since I discovered that The 100 was based on a book series with the same name, I wanted to spend more time in this virgin version of Earth. I’ve talked about what I enjoyed the most and disliked about the TV show, and now, after almost 3 years, I’ve read the entire book series. I wrote a review for the first book in the series – you can find it here. But since all the others would contain big spoilers, I thought it was better to review the series as a whole. If you want to know all my thought on each of the books, you can find them on Goodreads. Author: Kass Morgan Genre: YA, Sci-fi, Dystopia, Post-Apocalyptic Publication: …
Reading Dry by Neal and Jarrod Shusterman on a hot summery day might cause severe dehydration and overheat. Read it at your own risk! But read it. As someone who enjoys post-apocalyptic stories like cotton candy, I knew I had to read this book. And I was not disappointed. Thank you, next! Thank you, next! Thank you, next! I’m so. f*ckin’. grateful. for my ex… I’ve just watched Ariana Grande newest music video, and it’s great! The music is such a mood! This is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Although I’m not here to write about Ariana’s new song, and instead to gush about books. TBR Here we are in December, and here I am throwing away my autumnal TBR out of the window. In my September Wrap-Up, I was planning a TBR for the newly began season that I was going to read until the last day of Autumn, December 21st. First I thought I was doing great but we are already in December, and it means I only have 21 days to finish that TBR although I want to read something else to get me in the Christmas spirit. …
It’s been almost two and a half months since I read and saw Ready Player One and I’m finally ready to talk about it. I’m sure you know the feeling of loving a story so much and being so invested in the world and the characters that it hurts. You just want to read it all, no matter if it’s getting to the end because you only care about knowing the whole story. And then… BAM! A punch right in the feelings. There isn’t anything else to discover, no more story. Then you realise the world is not real, the characters aren’t real, and that real life sucks, now you are upset. And it gets painful to remember that nothing is real. So, instead of keep crawling back inside the book, I prefer to move on and then, after a while, I can talk non stop about it without any …
Holly molly, May is already over. This was one of the busiest months so far and I can’t believe it’s already over. In book-wise, actually wasn’t the happiest. I don’t know what is happening to me, I feel that I’ve spent this year so far inside a big reading slump – even though my Goodreads tells me I already read 15 books. My TBR pile is growing, I’m still buying books like the world is going to end, and I keep looking out for more books I don’t know to buy later. But I’m not reading any! Can you see my problem??
