In Used before category names. In Review, Movies
Nov 16, 2017 By Miss Known 0 Comment

One thing that you won’t find here on the blog is topics/things that I don’t like to talk about, either if it’s bad or good. If I have something to say I probably will make a post about it. So when a book or a movie excites me I want to make a review because I need to talk. You already know by the title that I saw Murder on the Orient Express and I wasn’t this excited/thrilled/pumped to see a movie in a long time. I had super very high (of the roof) expectations for this movie. I never read any of Agatha Christie’s novels – which I no longer can say – but I watched the ITV Miss Marple series and it changed my life. The unique kind of way telling mystery stories made me fall in love with the author and his creations. I was a little …

It has been a while since I write a post like this. Although I love to chat about books, series, and craft, the posts I more enjoy reading are the ones about life. These are the kind of stories that get you to know the person on the other side of the screen and have a chance to connect with. Most people have their story starting when they were little kids or when they read the first Harry Potter book. Well, I never had that. I never read the HP books and only saw the first movie. So my story took more twist and turns than that. Since I can remember I always liked to read. Although I only committed to it when I was 20 years old. So two years ago! I know I’m such a newbie. I have two books that I associate with my childhood. One being …

I know Autumn started more than a month ago but I can’t avoid posting this DIY. I’m been meaning to do this and putting it off for so long. I love having a hot cup of tea by my side but that also mean cup stains on the table. For the sake of my tables, I wanted to do cute Autumnal coasters to use around this time. I know it’s already November and in 21 days I need to change it for the Christmas decor, but Winter officially starts on the 21st of December so I still have time. I love doing DIYs and this one is a good example of how much work they take. I spend an entire day just taking the photos don’t get me started on tests, pdf versions and drawing. It feels like it took a whole week – not true though. Even though, I …

This post is the first off (hopefully) much more to come about archiving happiness. And to help me with that, I’m going to travel throughout the world to find traditions and/or activities that make people happier. I’m taking this journey through books in order to learn new cultures and people. This time is Denmark, with The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking, the president of the Happiness Research Institute. Happiness consists more in small conveniences or pleasures that occur every day, than in great pieces of good fortune that happen but seldom to a man in the course of his life. Benjamin Franklin Meik ends the book with this quote which I believe sums up not just hygge but how you can conquer happiness in your own life. For me, every single human being as one dream in common, happiness. Although to archive it each one has a different …

The only thing I can think of is purity and raw beauty. This is for sure one of the hardest reviews I ever had to do. It has been 2 weeks since I read A Monster Call and the only thing I can say is how beautiful it was. I don’t believe there are words that can describe how great this book was so I’m going to keep this review short. While reading this book you won’t laugh or even smile. You might cry and hate it. But you won’t be depressed or bored. You might wish never to read it again but …

In Used before category names. Monthly Wrap-ups
Oct 31, 2017 By Miss Known 0 Comment

It has been a year since I started doing these monthly wrap-ups. I can’t believe a year has passed already and I haven’t missed any month. They may not be my most viewed posts but are for sure my favourite. I can ramble and talk about books as I’m pleased. There is nothing better. Most importantly, here you can find new books and recommendations. Enough of this intro, time to get back to the post. Noooo!! It’s already the end of October and I haven’t managed to buy any books from Book Depository. I just want to cry. Let me explain. My initial plan was to order around 6 books from Book Depository. Since they are so cheap I can easily buy the double of the books with the same amount of money I would spend in my local store. Books in Portugal are expensive and just to give you …

It all started when I wanted to bake something to celebrate Autumn’s arrival. Around this time of the year, the bakers and the weekend-bakers bring out the big guns to prepare delicious cakes, cupcakes, and cookies with all the pumpkin and spooky themes. Some are pieces of art but, for the common human being, I wanted to do something simple that could give also a nice visual impact. Since around this time pumpkin is the king, I bought a butternut squash. They make delicious soups, roasts and much more, although I wasn’t feeling to do something savoury with it. I wanted to make muffins! After hours and hours of jumping from a recipe to another, I finally found the one I wanted to make. It was easy, just putting everything together, mixed up and ready to go to the oven. Now, this is my kind of recipe! Although since I’ve …

Attention: Before starting reading this post is advised to grab something to drink or eat – or both -and get back since this is, without a doubt, the BIGGEST post I have ever done! On the end, I have some freshly baked news for you!! So don’t forget to check it out. I’m sorry in advance and hope I don’t bore you to death. Enjoy! It’s time for another Wrap-up!! The past week was the Spookathon from the 16th to the 22nd of October. I was dying to do another week-long readathon, and the spirits heard my pealing. Get it spirits? Because it’s Halloween?… Moving on, as you might or not know I attempt to participate in the Booktube-A-Thon back in July. But I’m not going to talk about it today, for more details go read this post. Bottom line, I wanted to participate in another one and see if …

Lately, I’ve been sharing with you a few DIYs for Key-chain mostly inspired by earrings on Pinterest. It all started to be one post with 3 different crafts, but since I’m such a rambler and want to get every little tiny detail right it would end up with a huge post. So I had to break it down into 3 parts. I promise you this is the last key-chain and I won’t be doing another one in the nearest future. If you would like to know more about this whole story go read the first DIY I did the triple tassel. Or if you want to recycle/reuse old jewellery the Not Another Tassel Key-chain post is perfect. One of the things I was carefully planning was to make sure all three DIYs were easy – not too complicated hopefully – and affordable. I own a fair amount of beads and …

After a solid two weeks without talking about books (pat on the back), I’m now doing a wrap-up of my first 24 hours readathon. So this year, I discovered that readathons were a thing and once I saw how people were coming together for it, got me excited. So I participated in the next readathon I heard about: the BookTube-a-thon. It was a complete fail. I had to cut short my experience and blah blah blah… I have an entire post dedicated to it if you want to read it. Bottom line, I enjoyed it but reading for a week is not that same as packing it in one day. So when Zoe Herdt from the YouTube channel Readbyzoe announced she was going to do a readathon in October, it was the perfect opportunity. I instantaneously signed up for it not minding on what day it was going to fall …

I can’t think of another title for this post. What can I say? This really is another tassel key-chain DIY. If you don’t a understand what I’m talking about, see last week’s post. I have a sudden obsession over tassels, and I couldn’t let it pass by without getting creative with it. Although, my inspiration, this time, didn’t come exactly from Pinterest. This started when I was scavaging through my beads and jewellery collection (that I no longer use) to try and find something I could use when I spotted an old bracelet. It was broken, and I was supposed to fix it for more than five years ago. Let’s face it, at this point I might find a new purpose for it because it will never be a bracelet again. And then it hit me, why not make this DIY about recycling old jewellery? Supplies: Scissors Sewing Thread Embroidery …
