After today’s morning news I believe a book is what everyone needs right now. With so many disappointment from the US elections reading a book that does not feature the world as we know is a blessing. And for me is also a timeout while I write this down, it helps to clear my head and hope for the best. I already did the review of the first book and it seems pointless not to continue with the series and because I love it so much!! So I am sorry if you don’t like Divergent but it is going to be around the blog for a few months – until they released the fourth movie/tv series (?) is all too uncertain for now. I saw the first movie after reading the book and was a big mistake! The characters were not what I imagined and it messed my head later …
We all have years that leave a big mark in our lives maybe with the day we enter a new school or university, maybe with a new friend, there are thousands of reasons and for me there was only two huge moments: with 14 years old my personality and posture in the world changed a lot; and my second year of Uni. To the first one, I’ll maybe talk about it in another day, the one for important for today’s post is the second. In the middle of so many changes to becoming and adult – or at least trying to – I came across a bunch of Youtubers and one of them I’ve been following for more than a year and is my true inspiration. Thanks to her I decided to start reading, to buy what I wanted to read and to fully enjoy a book. I’m talking about the one …
On a daily basis, my social media is filled with photos of autumn which are very normal considering this time of the year and also photos of one of the fruits of the season: conkers. Only last week I learned this word (never knew how was it called in English) and I was thrilled with happiness for finally know how to say it. With a little research I found odd not be able to find any recipes with them I though maybe cooking them is more of a Portuguese tradition instead of a worldwide one. It was annoying me soo bad how a simple recipe wasn’t online so people could enjoy eating conkers instead of just leave them around the house. When I realised conker was a toxic species and you’re not supposed to eat them I just wanted to bang my head against a wall. How could I be …
To start of this week celebrating the arrival of my birth month there is nothing better than reading a book wrapped in a comfy blanket sipping a cup of hot tea. Be aware this book is a serious problem and you will fell the need to buy the next ones so is important to have enough money to buy them all. I am not here to scare you but when I ended Divergent I was so excited to read the next one to know what was going to happen that I literally couldn’t even think about the book I would instantly fell a punch in the stomach and get very anxious. Which made it really hard to write a review after reading it. With no forward do I leave here the synopsis from Goodreads: In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular …
Last week I brought to you my thoughts about Castle and the first two books written by the one and only, Richard Castle. As you may or may not remember I was halfway through the third book and by Monday I was reading the acknowledgements. Today’s post is obviously a review (you can tell by the title) and before I go far on this is something I need to point out immediately: the original book cover is soo much prettier than the Portuguese one – this time Portugal you failed – and I know, I know, don’t judge a book by its cover but came on… you did such a good job with the French Gardener cover! Back to the review… I leave here the Goodreader synopsis of the book: Heat rises in the coldest New York winter of a century. The bizarre murder of a parish priest at a bondage club …
Yesterday was officially the first day of Autumn which makes me so happy. The trees are changing from the intense and alive green to a delicate fiery colour. What I must enjoy is the step-by-step change we see until winter which gives us time to prepare ourselves to get cosy and layer up before went outside. Speaking of it, sweaters, big scarves, bobble hats and boots are finally back! And with them came along my birthday and Halloween for next month, I might not celebrate it since high school but I will always remember as the best memories of my friends and the time we all spent together. To end the year there is also another exciting celebration: Christmas!! Oh my… I love Christmas so much but that is for another post. Don’t ask me why but with the days getting smaller it gives me a huge pleasure wake up before the sun …
More than two weeks later I remember I still haven’t celebrated here in the blog the arrival of spring. For that reason, I decided to talk about one book that I think is perfect to read while the flowers start to blossom and the sun decides to give some kisses between the clouds.
A couple days ago I was organizing my images on my computer and found the first image of a recipe I toke where I am currently living. I’ll be honest is not the best recipe I had ever cooked but it was tasty! Also is quick and easy to do!! Grocery List: Tagliatelle (100g portion) Sausages (is up to you but be careful with the seasoning some have strong and salty flavor) Spanich, fresh or frozen (100g portion) Marron Mushrooms Sweet corn Coconut Milk Salt, black pepper, and nutmeg When I am cooking I like to do multi-taste so all of the components of the dish came out at the same time or as nearly as possible. Despite the pasta, all of the others ingredients are already ready to be eaten so they’ll take less time to cook. I’ll leave where a tip to start cooking at the right moment. …
I am one of those persons who love being at home in a comfy pyjama all day long. At the same time, I love the outdoors. When you get up of the sofa and get dressed to go out to discover the city is such a nice and peaceful activity to do. But when you are visiting your hometown is even better! You have the chance to see what is different, what changed in the past month or what you remember from your childhood. Spread all over the city of Figueira da Foz, I have memories of when I was a little girl. In the last month, I did a small trip around one of my favorite places in the city as a kid: the municipal garden. When I was 5 years old (15 years ago), my grandparents used to take me to the garden so I can feed the pigeons, …
