I’m in one of the weirdest reading eras of my reading career. It’s not exactly a slump, but I can’t finish books. I keep growing my list of currently reading, and yet the books never graduate to the read shelf. And it’s becoming quite overwhelming. I can read multiple books at the same time, but I can juggle only a certain amount at one time. And looking at my spreadsheet, I’ve been like this for a while… October October was the month of the TBR Harvest readathon. I’ve missed a themed readathon even though I have a mixed relationship with them. This pushed me to finally grab a TBR veteran, Frozen Heat by Richard Castle. I had already decided not to continue with this book series. However, this book ended in the middle of a revelation. So obviously, I have to go read the next. Don’t you love it when …

I’ve been dreading the day I had to sit down and write this update. I’m not giving up if that’s what you’re thinking, I’ve just made some progress… in the opposite direction. This summer, the TBR grew bigger, and I’m trying my hardest to clean up that mess! But what would you do if you saw some books become homeless? Wouldn’t you help them? Those poor things were shivering! It broke my heart. I couldn’t send them away… So I opened my shelves… They look so cosy and happy now! And I hope they can make me feel like that as well. June It all started on a warm sunny day in June. The doorbell rings with the mailman bringing a package with fresh new books. The second volume of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo – I can now start planning to read that – The Seven Deaths of Evelyn …

It doesn’t even seem real that I decided to embark on this journey three years ago this month. While this is in no way a project or a challenge I’m actively pursuing, I still want to see what’s on the other side. And it will take whatever time it takes. I want to be more intentional with my purchases. To be on top of the books I really want to read. I don’t want to own a graveyard of books, I think I’ll like. I want to find that out instead of keeping guessing. Over time, my approach to this challenge has changed. From a more strict strategy to incorporating other challenges like The Hardest Reading Challenge You’ve Ever Done, HRCYED for short. I went from book-buying bans to adding too many books to my TBR, from great reading months to reading slumps. But all of this is with one …

I’m so excited to finally do an update on Project TBR Zero! I’ve spent the entire month of January counting the days to write this post. I want to look back and see my progress. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here is the first post where I introduced the challenge. My quest is to finish every single book I own. So welcome back to the second quarter update of Project TBR Zero. The Second Quarter October For a quick recap of where my reading was standing in September, I had 81 books in my TBR. As I said at the end of the last post, I was in a reading slump. And I carried that feeling until the new year. It didn’t stop me from reading, but I wasn’t overly excited about what I was reading. Not even a reread of Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and …

Two months into the new year and my reading mood are as good as ever. At this point, I’m just waiting for a reading slump to hit me hard. Meanwhile, I’m taking advantage of it as much as I can! February had one more reading day this year, and even though it still has fewer days than January, I read six books one more than the month before. For someone that was reading one to two books a month, this is pretty awesome! Wrap-Up When I was presented with the opportunity to review another book by Karl Drinkwater for a blog tour, I had to grab it. Chasing Solace is the continuation of Opal’s scavenge through the universe, and I wanted to reread the first book, Lost Solace, to refresh my memory on everything that happened. I enjoyed Chasing Solace even more, and now that I know there is a …

Finally, January is over! I don’t know about you, but it felt it took forever to end. And the proof of that is the amount of book I managed to read. Last month, I read five books total and each one of them was amazing! I had a great start on my reading year, and I’m going to tell you all about it because it’s time to wrap-up January. Wrap-Up On my last wrap-up, I say that I had already read my first book of the year and that it was a favourite. Not only that, but it also motivated the only purchase I’ve done this month. I’m talking about Missing Pieces by Carly Anne West. This middle-grade book is the prequel to the famous game Hello Neighbor, being the first book in a series with the same name. And since I love games as much as I love books, …

I’ve missed this little corner. I’ve missed writing some nonsense just because I’m in the mood. And I’ve missed talking about books! Happy New Year everyone!! So this is the new 20s, ahn? Well, I have some plans and goals to achieve one of them being to read more and to create a habit out of it. Another goal is to try and blog consistently. In the past year, I’ve taken a lot of breaks and posting whenever I feel like it, but I’ve missed my blog. To start 2020 with the right foot, I already read my first book of the new year, and it’s a favourite. I can’t even describe how great it was, and I’m continuing with the series for sure. Although I’ll leave all the details for next month. *evil laugh* November Wrap-Up The last time I did a wrap-up was in October starring all the …

Past me kind of made my life easier for October. I was way over halfway into three books, so it wasn’t hard to finish them all up in the first week of the month. I managed to read 5 books which is as much as the last two months combined. And not only that, but I also bought a few books for my birthday as a gift from me to me. Moreover, Spookathon happened, and I didn’t participate. All this time waiting for that stupendous week and life got in the way. I’m quite sad I couldn’t enjoy as I was hoping for since it’s one of the few readathons I’ve been doing every year. Oh well… there is more Spookathon next year – I hope! *fingers crossed* Wrap-Up The first book to finish off in October was One Child by Torey Hayden. I just wanted to get it out …

Another month is over, and my reading slump is still here. I’m trying not to think much about it and just work with it. Reading when I fell like it, don’t when I’m not in the mood, and once again I can’t resist to readathons even though the last ones I’ve failed miserably. If you don’t already know The Booktube-A-Thon, now known as The Reading Rush, happens at the end of July, and I’ve been participating since 2016 when I discovered it. I will participate once again this year and trying to take advantage of the reading sprints to luckily finish more books than I finished this month. Which I believe won’t be too difficult since I managed to read one book! I read The Sunday Girl by Pip Drysdale for a blog tour (you can read my review here), and probably if it wasn’t for the due date I …

May it’s finally over and that means it’s time to talk about all the books I read and bought this month. I purposefully skipped April’s wrap-up because I wasn’t in the mood to write about books. I usually can’t shut up about them, but lately, things have changed. I’m in the worst reading slump, and it’s getting quite hard to get out. Please send help! On these two months combined, I read 2 books and 2 comic books, which isn’t much for me. In April, I read Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart which was great but not as amazing and surprising as We Were Liars (you can read my review here). While in May, I read Strange Weather in Tokyo by Hiromi Kawakami that was… strange. I didn’t get fully immersed in the story because I need to learn more about Japanese culture, especially why they act in certain ways …

I am so confused! March is already over and it felt so short and at the same time so long. I guess this was a big month for me, and unfortunately, the number of books I read didn’t match its length. Luckily, I’ve been in such a great reading mood that will help me a lot in April. I want to spend all my time reading, but I do fill very guilty to spend a lot of time reading instead of doing something productive. It’s the ultimate struggle!! I just hope I can take advantage of this mood and shorten my unread pile of books. Wrap-Up I finished two books this month that I didn’t even remember. Otherworld by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller was a great book to melt my geek heart. It wasn’t as amazing as Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, but I had a blast reading …

February was one of the strangest and longest months ever – I know the irony. I’m still trying to switch my brain back to DIYing and blogging which it’s surprisingly hard. But thankfully during my break, I didn’t stop reading, so that part of my brain is still intact. I’ve read somewhere that one way to create a reading habit is to read when you’re feeling bored, to make the brain associate reading as something to take you out of the boredom. Although when I’m bored, I don’t want to pick a book because I’m bored! Do you see my problem? Well, this is a really long intro just to say that I’ve only read ONE book this month and wasn’t even good. *facepalm* As I usually like to do, I’m currently in the middle of three books, but only managed to finish one, After by Anna Todd. If you …
