Another month completed of the Hardest Reading Challenge You’ve Ever Done. I’m really enjoying participating this year. Doing the Ain’t-Nobody-Got-Time-For-That version was the right decision. We are only three months in, so it’s still a little early, but I think this might be the one. This year I’m going to conquer HRCYED. I’ve been reading amazing books, making steady progress, and I’m still excited by all the books I want to pick up for the challenge. The first book I finished in September was Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern. I really like her writing style. I never get tired of saying it. Vacation is over. Summer months are done. I’m ready for autumn to begin ( I was also ready by July, but that was just me). I’m still excited to write these HRCYED updates. Slowly but surely, I’m making some progress and having a good time with the books that I’m reading. From the author of Divergent comes another dystopian story. Not quite like the others, Poster Girl presents a quest for justice while never changing the world. Ever since I first opened the pages of Divergent, it has had a special place in my heart. It was my very first book series and my introduction to dystopian fiction. A subgenre of sci-fi that I enjoy a lot and should seriously read more of. Since then, Veronica Roth has released multiple books, mostly falling into the fantasy genre. For the longest time, the talk around perfectionism to me was always very… unhelpful. I think that’s the right word. I am a certified perfectionist. And have been trying to overcome it for a long time. So I’ve read and listened to a lot of talk about it. But time and time again, there was always something that didn’t click. The advice is always the same: recognise and then take action. Act despite the fear. Act despite the friction. Act and fail intentionally. And it’s not bad advice. Back in 2018, I gave myself for Christmas the Collector’s Edition of the Divergent series. And since then, I’ve been meaning to do a reread of the series. I was also planning another reading log type of post, so I merged both ideas. And I’m glad I did because otherwise, all my thoughts while reading Divergente for the first time since 2016 would be lost. The only thing left was to decide when I was going to read it. And Instagram decided for me. I casually stumbled upon the new 10th Anniversary Editions and… oh my… the artwork is BEAUTIFUL! Now, I want to find a reason to justify spending more money on a series that I already own two copies of (the Movie Tie-in Edition in Portuguese and the Collector’s Edition in English). It’s that time again to open my Goodreads page and see what books have I shelved and how many have I read this month. Thanks to the BookTube-A-Thon in the first week of August, I managed to read more than on an average month. Even though I was excited about the readathon and all the reading sprints and stuff, I didn’t participate in anything. When I wanted to read there weren’t any reading sprints happening, and when I did catch them I wasn’t in the mood to read for 20 minutes and stop, I wanted to keep on going. So in reality, the reading sprints did nothing for me. Although, I still finished two books I’m very happy about and a couple more in the remaining days of the month. How is it possible that April feels longer than the first three months of the year? I swear last month took soooo long to pass, but at the same time, how on earth is already May?? And I already have plans for every week of the month, not kidding. My social life is on fire this month, which means I’ll be able to hibernate for the rest of the year. Jokes aside, I have no idea how my reading is going to be. What I do know is how April has been, so let’s dive into it.
