Finally, we are in October! The best month of the year. Do you want to know why? No.1: Autumn. The greatest season of all. No.2: It’s my birth month, and everyone loves their birth month, especially since it means gifts – I already have books that I’m giving to myself on the way. I can’t believe this is the final part of my Most Anticipated Book Releases of 2018! I had so much fun to dive into lists and lists of books from authors I never heard of and from others that already have a little place in my heart. I got to know so many new and exciting books that I can’t wait to read some very hyped and others that should have been. These final three months are full of mystery, thriller, suspense, crime, secrets, sci-fi, romance, ghosts, and travel. For sure, this “series” is going to continue next year although with a few changes. So for one last time, here are my most anticipated reads of 2018.

Today, I bring to you another DIY in celebration of the upcoming season: Autumn. Supplies: Cork sheet (1 or 2mm thick) Cardstock Glue String X-acto Knife Needle and Knitting needle Step 1. Draw the base shape for the acorn to use it as a template to create as many as you wish. I wanted to make this DIY for quite some time. I got inspired while scrolling down Karen Kavett‘s Instagram and found this. The “hello” postcard immediately stick out for me and I wanted to make those letters in 3D. I always wanted those cute handwritten sign to place on my shelves that you see everywhere, and since I couldn’t find any, I better create my own. Although, it wasn’t that simple. What sticks out the most in the word are the coloured shades, so I had to have them but how? After a quick brainstorm, I got to an idea that possibly – possibly – could work, and I started making it. It’s that time again to open my Goodreads page and see what books have I shelved and how many have I read this month. Thanks to the BookTube-A-Thon in the first week of August, I managed to read more than on an average month. Even though I was excited about the readathon and all the reading sprints and stuff, I didn’t participate in anything. When I wanted to read there weren’t any reading sprints happening, and when I did catch them I wasn’t in the mood to read for 20 minutes and stop, I wanted to keep on going. So in reality, the reading sprints did nothing for me. Although, I still finished two books I’m very happy about and a couple more in the remaining days of the month. It took me almost two months to read it, but I finally finished The Nightmare by Lars Kepler. The power couple known to be the best writers of the hour of nordic crime stories have managed to create a very successful series following the detective Joona Lina while he unravels the most twisted crimes Sweden has ever seen. The Nightmare is the second book after The Hypnotist, and already with 5 more books ahead of it. From the look of it, the series seems pretty good, and I’m not going to say otherwise. I love a mystery! Always had and always will. There is something about a good mystery that leaves a sense of accomplishment even if you actually didn’t solve it. Maybe it’s all the twist and turns that keep your head racing to try and keep up or the beauty of the puzzle pieces coming together slowly. Either way, my adoration for this genre extends to movies, tv series, games, and books. I actually already wrote about different types of mysteries I enjoy, but recently I discovered one more. I’ve always been aware of its existence but never understood how good it could be. I’m talking about cosy mysteries. Even though I enjoy the idea of a “soft” story, I was never fully interested in it. Those types of stories were never for me, I would prefer more action, more blood, more macabre, and scarier. Another month has passed, and I still haven’t had a single summer day. I know the Northen Europe is under a big heat wave but here in the Southwest things aren’t that great. Clouds in the morning, clouds in the afternoon, and when the wind doesn’t show up, you get to feel the sun a little bit. While I wait for the summer to finally arrive is better to distract my mind with books. And since the BookTube-A-Thon is finally here, I’m in full bookworm mode.

One of the most exciting moments of the year has finally come. The BookTube-A-Thon has arrived!! And that means I’m not doing anything besides reading during an entire week. Now that is what I call a vacation. From the 30th of June to the 5th of August, the bookworms all around the world gather for one mission: read together. The challenges have been revealed over two weeks ago, on the BookTube-A-Thon YouTube channel. Since then, I’ve been looking around my owned books to try and find the right books to fulfil the challenges without buying any. Once that was done, I calculated the total amount of pages I have to read and how many I have to read per day. I even estimated how much time I should spend reading per day! For the past few months, I’ve been decorating boxes for my friend to give them for their birthdays. Instead of wrapping tiny presents one by one, it’s better to put them all in one box and give it away. Although, just because you are giving a box it doesn’t mean it has to be bland and boring. With a bit of imagination – and a few minutes on Pinterest – it’s possible to create something with attitude and, if you are like me, loads of humour.

It’s been so long since I’ve done a simple post just talking about some random topic that pop-up in my head. And today is time to talk about the YouTubers phenomenon. I’m not going to dive into any drama that might be on at the moment or give you reasons why/why not you should follow YouTubers. My point here is a little different. Instead of focusing on the internet “celebrities”, I want to focus on me and you – the viewers – and how being a viewer impacts our lives. I follow a fair share of people on the platform that I watch on a daily basis. Most of the times it depends on my mood.
